So you just got your first smartphone, and you’d like to send a text
message. No problem! Sending a text message is a very easy thing to do,
and we’ll walk you through the process.
KEEP IN MIND: Not all Android phones are the same. Some will have more steps required to complete each task, others will have less.
Once you enter the app, you may see a conversation with someone that you’d like to reply to. Instead of clicking on the plus sign, click on the conversation and it will bring you to the next step.
That’s it! The text message is sent, and you’re on your way to becoming an Android expert!
KEEP IN MIND: Not all Android phones are the same. Some will have more steps required to complete each task, others will have less.
Step 1
To begin, find your text messaging application on your phone. In this case, mine is called Hangouts. Yours might be called Messaging, Message, etc. Once you’ve found your application, click it. If you’ve never before sent a message, you may find the screen to be pretty bare. However, if you’ve received messages, they will show up on the main screen.Step 2
Look around your app. You should see either a plus sign (like the one shown), the words “create new message”, or something along those lines. Once you click that button, it will take you to a new screen. There will be a space to enter in either the name of the contact you’re trying to reach or the phone number, if you know it off the top of your hand.Once you enter the app, you may see a conversation with someone that you’d like to reply to. Instead of clicking on the plus sign, click on the conversation and it will bring you to the next step.
Step 3
Once the name or number is entered in, you will be presented with a new “compose” screen. Tap the text box space, and begin typing out your message. Once your message is typed out, press the “send” key. The key will look very different depending on which phone you’re using. In this case, all I need to do is tap the icon, and it automatically sends. That’s it! The text message is sent, and you’re on your way to becoming an Android expert!
