Smartphones can do a lot of different things. One of
those things is make a phone call… which is probably the reason you
purchased the phone in the first place. If you’re new to the smartphone
world, you may be pretty confused with your new technology. But that’s
okay! We’ll walk you through how to make, receive, and end phone calls.
KEEP IN MIND: Not all Android phones are the same. Some will have more steps required to complete each task, others will have less.
From the Dialer app: Begin by clicking the Phone icon. This icon will look different for every phone, so don’t worry if yours doesn’t look like mine. Once in the application, a number pad may automatically fill the screen. If not, simply tap the dialer button, and you should see a number pad. Once the phone number is dialed, tap the phone icon, and you’re done!
You may also have a search bar at the top of your screen. If you’d like to search for a contact, tap the search bar and begin typing the name of the person. Click on their phone number, and it should begin calling the contact.
Do you need to look up a contact’s phone number before you dial? No problem!
From the Contacts app: Click on the Contacts app. In my case, it’s called People. Once in the app, scroll down to the contact you’d like to call, and click their name. Once you see their phone number, click it. It should connect you right away!
Since many other phones differ from the way mine looks, you may see something like this:
The same basic action is used to answer or ignore the call. Swipe the green phone icon to the right to answer, or slide the red phone icon to the left to ignore.

Receiving a call
Receiving a phone call may differ a bit on the phone you’re using, but it’s basically the same action. If someone is calling you, you’ll see their phone number and their name on your screen. In my case, I’ll see a little white phone icon pop up towards the bottom of the screen. If I press that button and drag it to the green phone icon, it will answer. Alternatively, if I drag it to the red phone icon, it will ignore the call.Since many other phones differ from the way mine looks, you may see something like this:
